Best Retro Footie Kits Ever

Best Retro Footie Kits Ever

The world has been blessed with some incredible kits over the years, within this blog we will dive into some of the best retro kits ever.

8. Netherlands HOME kit 1988

This kit has aged brilliantly over the years, with the likes of Gullit, Van Basten and Koaman repping out the kit when they lifted the Euros trophy in 1988. The perfect shading of orange brought together by the classic chevrons, then the original Adidas logo and that iconic Dutch lion badge to make it a kit that will last the age of time.

7. Liverpool HOME kit 1993-95

Liverpool have always had a kit that millions around the world admire. However, not many come close to Liverpool’s kit in 1993-95, with the original red colour and famous Carlsberg sponsor made this kit very special. The Logo and Adidas centrally located down the kit makes the kit have that retro style that many fans miss in the modern era.  The darker shades of red running down the centre of the kit and down the sleeves is a very simplistic but stylish design. Then the white stripes perfectly aligned down the side of the kit just polished off a perfect kit!

6. Cork City HOME kit 1988-1989

A name you would not expect to be in this list but when it comes to a classic retro kit you can’t look further than Irish club Cork City in 1988-89. A pattern and style that is very similar to Germany’s kits but with a very unique sponsor in Guinness. The white red and green makes the kit look wonderful and with the original green Adidas sponsor we believe it fully deserves to be sat as one of the greatest kits of all time!

5. Croatia HOME kit 1998

Croatia have always had some very well respected kits but nothing compares to the kit they wore in 1998. Lotto being the sponsor created something magical, a V-neck with lovely patterns across the neck. Then further patterns down the left hand side of the shirt in red and white rectangles, followed by a white design below the patterns. Croatia have tried to replicate kits similar to this many times since however, this is still the original that got everybody respecting Croatia’s kits.

4. USA AWAY kit 1994

The star-splattered special for a 'Murican World Soccer Series, this has just never been beaten. The textured blue looks phenomenal and the white faded stars make the kit look very ‘American’. This kit will always be a kit that is known as the best American kit of all time.

3. Colombia AWAY kit 1990

Columbia had an excellent home kit in 1990 however, the away kit is the one that many believe is the best kit that Colombia has ever produced. With a predominant red featured kit and the famous yellow and blue patterns down the sleeve. The kit also has the three stripes from Adidas that run down the shoulder then the crest and Adidas logo on the front of the kit. A big shout out to the blue shorts, they really do top off an amazing kit. This really is what you call retro!

2. AC Milan HOME kit 1988-1990

AC Milan have always had unbelievable kits, so picking one was very hard to do. However, one of the most recognisable jerseys of all time is the 1988/90 kit, this is not only gorgeous but they had huge success with whoever wore it. Arrigo Sacchi’s team won back-to-back European Cups in ‘89 and ’90 with the likes of Gullit who looked exceptional in the red and black stripes and kappa sponsor.

1. Denmark HOME kit 1986

Worn in Mexico 1986 the likes of Laudrup wore this kit with style and so they should! With a half and half design which was a risky move but paid of hugley,  it is now known as one of the greatest kits ever lived. This was a Hummels masterpiece, using different shades of red and patterns down both sides of the kit, it really was a kit for the ages!
