With less than 1 week to go until the Women’s Euro 2022 tournament kicks off on the 6th of July, we have a roundup of players to watch and look out for during this year’s tournament.
Players to Watch
Melvine Malard. France.
Melvine Malard has solidified herself as one of the world’s top players over the last season after being a key component of domestic league and champions league winning side Lyon. After 16 goals this season we hope to see her contributing to France too. Let’s see if she can add more to an already heavy list of honours this season.
Lauren Hemp. England.
Hemp has become one of the country’s top talents. As a winger, she has been providing plenty of quality assists for England forwards. She has also won the PFA young player of the year a staggering four times. Her skill and pace on the wing make her a huge attacking threat for the tournament hosts.
Vivianne Miedema. Netherlands.
Miedema has just signed a lucrative contract extension with her club at Arsenal after much interest from the likes of PSG and Barcelona. At only 26 years old she has an incredible goal-scoring record of 92 goals as a striker for the Netherlands. Her national side is defending European champions and runners-up in the last world cup, so we expect her to be bagging a few more goals this tournament for the side.
Manuela Giugliano. Italy.
Giugliano captured attention on the world stage when Italy made a shock run to the quarter-finals of the 2019 World Cup. Since then Giugliano has proven herself further with her club side Roma. The midfielder is an exceptional talent at the heart of Italy’s midfield and a regular starter.
Diana Silva. Portugal.
The Aston Villa player is Portugal’s best chance of some goals this tournament. After being a big scorer for her former club Sporting CP she hasn’t enjoyed the same level of goal scoring while at the Birmingham side. With a point to prove we expect to see her on the score sheet.
